Past Meeting – Introduction to Scientific Analysis of Ceramic Artefacts – 14th February 2017

ACSG Third Meeting: Scientific Analysis of Ceramic Artefacts: an introduction for beginners. Tuesday 14th February 2017, 2:30pm to 4 pm South Lecture Room, Division of Archaeology, Cambridge.

We are happy to invite you to the next ACSG Meeting that will happen on the 14th of February. We will explore the potential of different analytical methods for the study of archaeological ceramic materials, including Thin-section Petrography, XRF, FTIR, NAA and XRD.

PRACTICAL SESSION: “Introduction to Ceramic Thin-Section Petrography” After the presentations (from 3:30pm to 4pm), the group will move to the McBurney Geoarchaeology Lab (West building) where we will supervise a practical session: everyone will have the chance to look at ceramic slides under optical microscopes. It is a short session “for beginners”: therefore, non-experts are invited to join the group.

The SLR is located on the second floor of the department building and is accessible via the west staircase or the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology (MAA) lift. Do you still struggle to find the SLR? Do not worry. I will be waiting for you outside the building as usual at 01:50pm.
